Jamie grew up in a little village outside Ashford in Kent, where his parents still live today. Jamie attended the North School for Boys in Ashford, then went on to attend South Kent college of Technology in Folkestone where he obtained a Diploma in Building studies.

Jamie’s interest in cycling grew stronger in the early 90’s which led Jamie to achieve numerous British and European Titles in BMX. Jamie then realised that his dream was further afield in the United States, so he packed his bags and headed out to southern California to begin what would be the start of a 7 year stint as a BMX Pro.

Racing in America was intense, but Jamie thrived on the challenge and became one of the top Pro’s over the 7 years and claimed many titles; one of his greatest achievements was the National No1 in the NBL series in 2001. Because of the demands of the Sport, Jamie could sense that he was coming towards the end of his BMX career and decided to try his hand at Track racing, which in his eyes was very similar to track racing in a physiological way.

Early in 2002 Jamie managed to make the qualifying requirements to be a member of the Great Britain Cycling Team in only on handful of sessions on the Track, and then knew he had a potential extension to his cycling career.

Jamie excelled straight away on the Track and started collecting medals in his first season.
