Eurosport

November 21st, 2009

Interesting day at the Eurosport studio. We arrived there with about 2 hours to prepare for the commentary by printing out results and starting lists, but then it all took a bad turn.

We went to the first sound box (literally 2m x 2m) and started to set up for the commentary, but then were told that we needed to move because of something to do with the sound. We proceeded to play musical sound boxes for 5 minutes, including one studio that had a monitor smoking and about to catch on fire! David, the main commentator was shouting “fire”"fire” but knowone seemed to care!

We eventually found a sound box that was working and got set up…all with just seconds to spare!

Commentary went well, I thought, and so I enjoyed it. Flew back home and got to spend the evening with some friends that we had met whilst our time here in Manchester and had probably one or two or three too many drinks!

Lovely meal with good freinds. Kids had fun too.

More packing tomorrow before our move next week, Fun Fun Fun!

Back on it

November 19th, 2009

Excuse the pun, but I’m back on track. Had my first real session today after hurting my back at the nationals and then again at the World Cup.

I had an MRI last week, but luckily nothing too bad is up with my back, just two bulging disks.

The doc and physio both say though, that it’s not too bad and I should be good to carry on with training.

Looking forward to racing the next Revolution in a few weeks….if the back holds up!

Manchester World Cup

November 16th, 2009

Hi all,

Well it’s the new Track season, and the good news is that it’s starting off in Manchester again this year which means no travel.

Traveling to some may be good fun, but having to do it and race sucks as you never get to see anything of where your going except the hotel and track.
But even though where here in Manchester, we’re all in the hotel as of tonight so that we can start our “Team bonding”!! Don’t worry, there’s no chanting or group hugs!

Everyone is in great form and looking forward to racing. The like of Sir Chris and Vicki are on good form, as well as some of the youngsters too.
I’m predicting a good show from team GB and maybe even some World Breaking times?

If you haven’t got tickets, then it’s probably too late as I think it’s a sell out.
I do hear though that it’s on CyclingTV; So catch it there and on the beeb and Eurosport too.

Reports are also available on Twitter at BCReports

Well, I’m going to chill out on the bed and wait for dinner.

I’ll try and keep you posted.

DHL Sprint School

November 15th, 2009

We had another DHL sprint School yesterday (7th August), and had a really good time.

Guy Elliot at DHL came up with the concept a few years ago and the since then the school has blossomed to the point that some of it’s original riders are now making their way on to the GB Talent team and Olympic development Program!

To watch the kids when they first start getting into track racing and develop to the point where they are good enough to make the GB squad is really exciting.

The School focuses on sprint disciplines, but even though some of the riders who attend the school plan on going into endurance, they can still learn valuable riding techniques that can be applied to any form on racing; plus it teaches them about discipline and having structure in their lives.

Well done to all the young riders yesterday and try to remember some of the things you learnt!

Giving a gap!
Patients!
Observation!
